Rooftop Garden Design Ideas

Rooftop modern garden design in London

Designing the perfect retreat with limited garden- or rooftop space can be a daunting challenge. Yet, even the smallest spaces can be converted into a little paradise, a perfect place to retreat after a day at work, a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic life. Perhaps you may wonder about the palm tree in the pictures. It is a European Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) and it can survive temperatures down to 10° F (-12° C) making it one of the better choices for city gardens in New York, London, Paris and Tokyo. The European Fan Palm even survives the occasional snowfall in its native habitat! Most of these gardens have the added benefit of being in a sheltered position which decreases the chances of damaging windchill and frost.
