Rooftop modern garden design in London
Designing the perfect retreat with limited garden- or rooftop space can be a daunting challenge. Yet, even the smallest spaces can be converted into a little paradise, a perfect place to retreat after a day at work, a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic life. Perhaps you may wonder about the palm tree in the pictures. It is a European Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) and it can survive temperatures down to 10° F (-12° C) making it one of the better choices for city gardens in New York, London, Paris and Tokyo. The European Fan Palm even survives the occasional snowfall in its native habitat! Most of these gardens have the added benefit of being in a sheltered position which decreases the chances of damaging windchill and frost.
Modern Rooftop Garden Design
Here are some design ideas for those who have smaller gardens. Believe it or not but the amazingly beautiful garden space pictured above is actually a rooftop garden in London designed by the London based landscape- and garden designer Amir Schlezinger. He can work miracles with even the tiniest of city gardens; Amir Schlezinger designs and builds contemporary gardens, landscapes and roof terraces throughout London. Projects include City, Courtyard, Patio and larger Family gardens with a major specialty in roof gardens and terraces. In a city like London, Amir Schlezinger has always been asked for low maintenance and this has evolved into an important element of all his gardens. He offers a complete design and build service, with a particular emphasis on project management.
Alongside domestic projects, Amir Schlezinger also works with corporate clients to develop their outdoor spaces. With all clients, his key role is to translate their wishes into a workable design - creating beautiful yet highly liveable, social spaces.
Amir Schlezinger studied Garden Design at Middlesex University and Capel Manor College in London and graduated with a BA (Hons) in 2000. He has designed and managed numerous projects since, cultivating a particular interest in roof gardens.
The roof terrace planters are custom designed and specially produced for each project.
