The talented British designer Paul Cocksedge created Drop for this years London Design Festival which will take place at the Southbank Centre from September 18th until october 17th 2010.
Paul Cocksedge conceived drop as a giant coin, a piece of design that comes with a narrative. A huge coin has somehow dropped from the sky onto the South Bank in London. Lightly buckled upon landing improbably upright. The giant coin is magnetic, encouraging passers-by to participate by affixing their spare pennies.
At the end of the installation the public contributions will be counted and the festival's corporate partners will turn every penny into one pound.
Since setting up his studio with business partner Joana Pinho following his graduation from the Royal Collge of Art in 2002, Paul Cocksedge has become famous as one of London's wittiest and most mercurial design talents. This year he creates extraordinary installations at The South Bank and at the V&A for the London Design Festival.
