One of the coolest space age toys that were ever made in the last century: Playmobil's "must have" Playmospace series. When you were a kid in the early 1980's you had to have Playmobil's space discovery Playmospace series. Playmobil released the Playmospace line in 1982. A decade after the end of the Space Age design period. This line displays wonderful Space Age features with nice translucent blue screens and chrome plated accessories.

The Playmobil Playmospace series included more than 12 different items (all sold separately) including the Large Space Station (pictured above), a Space Front Loader, Lunar Dumper, Space Rover, Space Glider, Space Shuttle, Robot and Astronauts. Playmobil ceased the production in the late 1980's and these pieces have become valuable collectors items. You can try your luck at thrift stores or easier, eBay.  Hopefully one of the decision makers at the Playmobil headquarters reads this blog and will put this back in production!
