Peter Ghyczy: Space Age Modern Egg Chair

Peter Ghyczy is a modern furniture designer. He was born in 1940 in Budapest. After the 1956 revolution, Ghyczy fled to West Germany, where he studied architecture at the University of Aachen. He worked for Reuter in Lemförde where he headed the design section of modern furniture.



He most famously designed the Garden Egg chair in 1968 that became a classic of industrial design and modern furniture as it explored the use of plastic in modern furniture. Ghyczy founded his own company in 1972.
